Hi Andy,

Welcome to the QSO UK forum.

What sort of radio do you play on? VHF/UHF? HF? Do you like VoiP? ie Echolink?

I use CQ100 at QSONET.com which works well.

73 for now

Dave

My radio is a Kenwood TM-732, so im restricted to VHF/UHF at the moment. I cant afford any new hardware at the moment.

I have a colinear at home, and a bual band aerial on my car.

Ive not tried echolink yet or voip etc. I do want to try packet and SSTV at some point.

Check this website www.QSONET.com and download CQ100 for free. It costs just $30.00 which is about £15.00 after 90 days so its free to try. I have a small HF antenna wire around the garden as its all I can put up but I use this program alot and its just like having a HF radio.

Maybe we could have a chat on it if you download it.

Great stuff Andy. It takes a few days to register as they need to confirm your a Ham but once that is done your 90 days start. I think its a wonderful program. Just download it and away it works, unlike echolink. It is also just like having another radio so even if I don't use it one night I still have it on in the background...

Enjoy

I was looking at that Kenwood radio you have some time ago. Have you got a Seperation Cable for it? I remember looking around for hours and could not fine one anywhere.

Hi Andy,

I have never tried SSTV, RTTY.

Well done with QSONET and Douglas is very good at getting it sorted quite quick. I use it most the time and think its a great tool. The HF bands are very quiet most of the time at the moment and when you don't have much time to play radio its very frustrating...

I hope to catch you on there very soon Andy and am sure you will find it fun.

Dave

P.S. Nice pics mate. Like the xxx ones! Wink . I want my G/F to go on a QSL card but she kicks me out when I mention it!!!

Hi Andy,

Any news on the CQ100? Are you registered yet? How are you finding it?
I had a very long chat to two guys last night, one was in Essex and the other was a British ham in Canada. We were chatting for hours.

Keep an eye open on 29mhz. There is a repeater on there but I have never used it. I will find the freq out later for you. 14.200 s a calling freq so just give a CQ call there and QSY.
