Re: Miracle Antenna
I was looking into this antenna when I bought the 817ND but I got the T1 ATU. I would still like one to try but the cost is quite alot.
Have you ever used one Simon?

Re: Miracle Antenna
I have a miracle whip & love it, it's normally used as my antenna of choice for the 20 meter foundation course QSO's, I normally sit a few miles away & work the trainee's on ground wave using the 817 & miracle whip.
I have worked a few other stations on 20 using the miracle whip, but do not expect good reports, these are below a compromise, but as long as you realise their lack of capability then you get good results, expect them to perform as well as a mobile whip or wire up a roach rod & you'll be disappointed, but ALWAYS use the earth wire, I use two, one clipped to the Miracle Whip & a second on the 817's earth screw, these really are needed & do make a difference.
Yes they are expensive, but they are a self contained 40 meters to 70 Cm tuned antenna & if you add a wire with a crocodile clip at one end & a roach rod then you get a very much improved short wire that you can tune.
