kenwood ts-50
thinking of buying one of these..anybody here had one?..are they easy to do an out of band transmit adjustment?

Remove the bottom cover of the TS-50
Locate the PLL board -- it is the pc board on top of the main board, it has a shield on it's right side.
Locate the only non-surface mounted component on the PLL board -- look near the rear left-hand side of the pll board (front of radio facing you) and remove the very obvious diode. You can't miss, there is only one there.
EXCELLENT Piece of kit and if need a photo then email me and will send for you

thanks simon not got the radio yet but thinking about it.would i have to do a cpu reset after diode removal?

The CPU should auto reset with this radio, but there is no harm in doing it for sure

I used one with the auto ATU on Windmills on the Air. Loved it.
My wife just sat down & used it, no take me through every thing with this rig. It was just this does this, that does that & off she went.
We worked a Danish station who was using a Kilowatt. He gave our 100 watts a 5 & 8 we gave him 5 & 9. The QSO was long & easy. This rig certainly punches beyond it's weight.

Got one here and it has the BEST set of ears and can hear a lot more than with some of the other radios that were here, really am super delighted with mine
