PMR in central Europe
PMR in central Europe
Hello everyone
I'm visiting central Europe next year (de, se, cz, ch etc).
I was wondering if it was worth bring along my Icom UHF transceiver to have a listen around the PMR Frequencies when I travel around.
Cheers

Re: PMR in central Europe
Thanks Simon
I'll be in CZ for about 2 weeks including Ostrava, Brno and Prague.
I'm also going by ferry from Stockholm to Riga so will have a listen there.
Also hope to make it to Bayern and the Zugspitze.
Cheers

Re: PMR in central Europe
Ostrava will be buzzing. They use external antennas from Anteny Zach so will hear them. Prague you need channel 4 NO CTSS and for DX channel 4 and 7 are the calling channels
Riga was there, only workers in Russian from Hotels
Zugspitze sure you will hear many gateways, and remember in Germany program the free net channels from 149mhz as any internet gateways used to connect via FRN to internet.
Regards
Simon

Re: PMR in central Europe
Thanks for the info Simon
Sounds like there is a lot of activity in CZ.
Unfortunately my Czech is next to zero but have enough Germany to get me around.
I'll have to see what the frequencies are and work from there.
I guess the gateways just take you to another part of the EU....??
Cheers

Re: PMR in central Europe
Gateways are linking the world. There are rooms for almost everywhere. Australia, Thailand, Japan you name a place it is there mostly.
My link sits on PMR 7 7CTSS and so nice to drive around and hear Thai on the air from the gateway when it is sitting in that room. Makes the locals have a think....
