Finding your Maidenhead locator.

Post by daxi on Mon May 24, 2010 11:21 am

To find your maidenhead locator or Worked All Britain locator you first need to know the map grid reference for your location.
We will assume this is for your house but if it is for portable operation then just adjust accordingly.
First go to
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/
Next enter your post code or the address.
Next click on the exact location of your house/ where you will operate from.
Next look below the map & you will see "Click here to convert coordinates." Click on HERE & the figure you want is the LG.
Mine is TG225118.
Next go to
http://www.ntay.com/contest/NGR2Loc.html
And enter the LG
This gives you a six figure locator known as a maidenhead locator ( 2 X letters, 2 X Numbers, 2 X Letters.)
Mine is JO02PP.
For your WAB (Worked All Britain) square You take the first two letters of your LG reference used above, thus mine is TG & then the first & fourth numbers so my WAB is TG21.
