Hello Guys, some new news and information for you although no photo at the moment. Team GmBh from Frankfurt have come across an excellent idea for those who need to receive information in the work place but need not to reply, so an all rx solution

At around the size of a blue tooth headset, and can be programmed for 400-470mhz and coming initially with PMR446 this headset can receive conversations. So, tour guides, gone are the days of the big headphones and a receiver, best can say is it ...

Before we go any further i am not talking about 446mhz gear.

I am talking about converting ex taxi radios, like Pye Tait,Key etc.

I have dabbled with these type of rigs for many years.I am no means an expert.

I know that M3's are not alowed to convert these type of rigs.

Personally i think they are missing out .But ofcom make the rules !

So i would be interested in anyone who has converted a EXPMR radio and how you got on with the rig.

The first radio here that is legally working PMR446Mhz and also Free-Net which is 6 channels in the 149mhz spectrum. Yes its a Wouxun made radio as all can see but there are differences within the DNA, the make up of the menu system, non detachable antenna and audio/receive differences that make it the same, but very different. Retailing for 109euro, and you can use a data cable and software although not the Wouxun one to make some different settings such as power, repeater shift etc. BUT ...

Anything to watch out for when using the above in 4W and scrambler mode whilst in Mecklenburg Vorpommern in holiday in a couple of weeks time (Ostsee kueste and Ruegen/Hiddensee). Is it best to use PMR channel 9 and 10 etc rather than the standard 8 channels or is it going to be a rerun of one of those WW2 spy movies with DF vans scouring the countryside looking for "Der Englaender".

Remember this radio guys, its a 446 radio with a 1/4 antenna

Take the back cover off, cut the red wire and you have all the normal 336 8 channels and then press the V/M after reset and it becomes a 70cm radio with repeater shifts and ALSO available to work the new and un-official UHF CB Band that seems to be waking up in EU. 1w output with external power, and cheap as chips to get you started into OM also.

I can access OE7XRJ at 126km with the standard 2x AA and you have tone burst ...
