Well I didnt get much response from the 29 div members, so do we have anyone in Indonesia ? I fly there Saturday evening for a week, sitting in Jakarta then flying back Friday evening so want to try and do something radio wise to keep my mind off the fact I've been booked into what is considered as the local brothel hotel for the EU.

I have just brought myself a Glaobal AT2000 SWL AMU
The above is the Mizuho labeled AT2000.
This is the dog's dangly bits in SWL AMU's, it has variable Q & is band pass, so you can virtually notch any QRM /QRN out. It is also good on loop, which is what I brought it for.
All I need to do now is build the loop & fit it with a plug for my Realistic DX400/ Sangaen ATS-803.

I have just been given a tape deck with USB drive so I can upload some of my Free Radio & Jingle collection for online access.
Does anyone have any sites they favour for audio storage? I don't want to use You Tube as I don't want to mess about with images, I just want to link my recordings to something like a blog or my FB page etc etc.

Any EI or 29 division operators on the forum ?

Driving back from Germany yesterday, the conversation changes to about how expensive radios are in the XYL's opinion, I'm concentrating on the road, trying to avoid a Dutch plated Ford Focus playing lane swap and I started to sell the idea of getting a FT2000 and that it was about euro2200, no response - hmm good sign I think as she didn't give the standard response of no, so I speak a bit more saying well I'd have to look at selling other radios to finance this, still no response - hmmm looking ...

Just for information.
Maplins have some great offers on solar chargers again. they range from very small trickle charges at �10 up to large (4 foot X 4 foot, I would guess,) at �200.
We brought a 4 watt charger for what they claimed was half price at �15, but a good buy at �15 regardless of real normal retail price.

What do people think will be the effect of the analogue switch off when it comes to VHF band 2 listening?
I had not thought about it until today, but thinking about it, the band is 90% cluttered up a few national stations. So will there be a benefit to the listener from the analogue switch off? By this I mean will the switch off mean that band 2 will become an easier band to dx on?

It is not as described firstly it should have had a mag mount secondly it was a cheap copy & not the Comet antenna described. I phoned & was told all their other "Comet Antennas" were made by Comet, but not this one & that he felt it was as described, I then had to argue to get a verbal agreement that my postage costs incurred due to their mis selling of this item would be refunded. I have been here a couple of times before, but here goes again. Does anyone have any ideas for a semi decent 10 meter band only radio? I'm not after a CB, I want a amateur radio for 10 meters. Even IF you were to design a true 1/2 wave over 1/4 wave stacked dipole antenna, you would not get 9.9-dBi gain on the horizon.
