			<description>I cut my radio teeth on Echo Charlie. I have never really used CB, unless you count using legal CB with a licence back in the early 80's as 48 meter broadcast site communication.

When I started back in the mid 70's it was all AM &amp; either homemade TX's or ex Military equipment. But by the early 80's, rich CB'ers were evident on the band with their converted amateur radio SSB equipment &amp; CB language this also brought an increased DTI interest in the band &amp; more raids.

			<description>Echo Charlie While access to HF was restricted to amateurs geeky enough to learn Morse code, other radio enthusiasts resorted to pirating the airwaves to get their fix. There is some activity on the following kHz frequencies, usually in &quot;Aero En-Route&quot; (civil) or &quot;Fixed&quot; bands. Echo Charlie dates back decades to at least the 1960s (to 1950s? late 40s?) and means the 6.6MHz band, which started on AM, on war-surplus equipment.
