I don't know where to start as it is my first review of such a radio. The handheld is very robust and has a solid feel to it. I first started using it on a mountain top above Colwyn Bay and straight away I worked someone in Blackpool on its rubber duck as I sat in the car amazed.

On using the radio for 20 mins it did start to become ...

To change Watson Power Mite 22NF from 240 to 120 vac input. Change the input fuse from 4 amps to 6 amps and link together the 2 terminal lugs marked "110". The Shorting Link spades are standard items available at any uk car accessory shop. NOTE: The correct length of the 4 or 6 amp cartridge fuse is 30mm. A 32mm fuse will splay the fuse holder. A 25.4 mm fuse (one inch) may fit but I haven't tried it.

I was shown one of these during my foundation course by one of the instructors & I was hooked.

They are cheap, superb value & so versatile.

Ours is used mainly portable using a 12 volt portable battery pack & either a Miracle whip, an ATX walkabout, which is not great for adjusting the SWR on, or a wire up a roach pole.

The 817 has so many features that I'm not sure I want to list them all.

But the best are.

Built in SWR meter. Not brilliant but OK for field operating.

I am the owner (although having seen the thread on here about the 817) of a well bodged 817 and an Imax 2000.

The 817 is an ace little radio and it rx's better than my 747. Age difference perhaps?

I have printed out all 87 pages fm the internet and have set aside it for bedtime reading.

There are more menus on it than McDonald's have in the summer. Practice I suppose.

Scanning is a nice option.

Gonna get the Imax up soon (complete with ground-plane) in the near future. Hopefully ...

Hi everyone, hope I've put this in the right place. I've got a Kenwood TS180S with matching Sp30 power supply and matching AT180 Tuner that I inherited from my grandfather awhile back. Also have manuals and mic. It has been fitted with the warc band kit and also the 4 memories kit.

I've never used it myself but appears to be working fine. Was just wondering what I could expect to get for it on ebay or even just a starting price would be really helpful. Moving house and having a clear out.

Well we did it, we replaced the LDG Z100 that went pop, last year. The new auto AMU is the updated Z100, the Z11 Pro & first impressions are very good.

The Z100 was an amazing little AMU, but first impressions of the Z11 are that it is even better.

It tuned our CP6 on every band in seconds, something the Z100 could not do across the 80 meter band unless we used a MFJ auto AMU expander.

I am new to QSO UK and hope that someone can help in tracking down a circuit diagram for a "Watson Power-mite NF" power supply.

Mine has gone kaput for reasons that remain unclear and as I live in Cyprus it is not a case of popping down to my local electronics store to get it fixed. A Google search did not come up with anything useful so I am hoping someone will have a copy of the circuit they can copy and email to me or will know the URL of the manufacturers.
Time was, 100 watts was a lot of power. Today, more and more transceivers feature 200 watts output. Even though many of these modern radios feature a built-in tuner, it’s range and features are usually quite limited; if you need a tuner, you probably need a better one than they built into the radio. The LDG AT-200 is designed for this new generation of rig.

Many QRP operators have a small 100-150 watt amplifier for times when you need a few more S-units. The AT-200 is ideal for this kind ...

I recently acquired a, as new, FT857D. I have had it's smaller brother the

FT817 for a couple of years & often use it's bigger brother the FT897, so I knew it well even before I had one.

These wonderful little rigs are easily opened & have a great yahoo owners group.

In the past few months we have logged several new countries & had some very good reports on both local FM & DX for audio.

Any other owners ?
