Hi all

Has anyone modded one of these CB handhelds from either 27/81 to EU spec or other way around.

If so please could you inform me how to mod the rig.

I am asking this for a fellow radio amateur.

Also has anyone got operating instructions or circuit diagrams for this rig.

With me using D-Star it posts my location onto APRS online maps which is great but only works when you transmit onto a D-Star repeater. Is there anyway of adding a APRS unit to my station setup? Maybe Tiny Trac or something? If so what do I need?

There is some activity on the following kHz frequencies, usually in "Aero En-Route" (civil) or "Fixed" bands. Echo Charlie dates back decades to at least the 1960s (to 1950s? late 40s?) and means the 6.6MHz band, which started on AM, on war-surplus equipment. What the E and C actually mean seems to be a mystery. ...

I was shown one of these during my foundation course by one of the instructors & I was hooked.

They are cheap, superb value & so versatile.

Ours is used mainly portable using a 12 volt portable battery pack & either a Miracle whip, an ATX walkabout, which is not great for adjusting the SWR on, or a wire up a roach pole.

The 817 has so many features that I'm not sure I want to list them all.

But the best are.

Built in SWR meter. Not brilliant but OK for field operating.

These were good when they were made in Korea and then when rOHs came in the quality was almost non existent. And now, new Chinese production but so many modifications that you cannot imagine make the radio more stable, does not drift and seems indeed more reliable

went to ALDI yesterday to see what specials they had on, i noticed the wifi radios had dropped in price from �49 to �34 so i got one. what a great piece of kit.took about 5 mins to get it connected to my router. i was scrolling through some of the UK stations and found GB3PZ repeater. shame no other repeaters where found. i can also play all my music files of my pc through it (wirlessly).

I am taking an intrest into SOTA as I have some fantastic radios and I could do with doing some walking. I have been looking into the local Summits and we have a few local ones like GW/NW-044 Moel Famau, GW/NW-051 Foel Fenlli and GW/NW-070 Great Orme.

All I need is waterproof coat & pants, walking shoes, rucksack a Sota Beam, 9Ah Gell Cell battery and some waterproof paper / Log Book. As I will only doing climbing small summits for the time being on my own or maybe with GW7AAV then I wont ...

Hello All,

Heard 43RC005 today, he was only 5/1 to me and it looked as if he was making good contacts much further north than Corsica.

It was funny really because I listened to him working 2 very good radio friends of mine from N.Ireland, Joe 68OD002 & Robbie 68DT555 and he was giving them reports of anything between 5/7 and 5/9 !!!!!

Now I must wait patiently for the pacific propagation to take a more southerly path, but at least it was great to hear 43 division again , so ...

Well I ordered this the other day and it came today. After putting up T&K brackets tonight ready for tomorrow I set to work on building the Tonna beam. Very easy indeed and didn't take very long to work out what went where. Just hope I get a good SWR when I test it tomorrow.

I will have to say to my neighbours that its my new digital TV antenna and that everyone is going to have to get one in the near future.

The things I do to get a better signal from GB7WP!!!

I am new to QSO UK and hope that someone can help in tracking down a circuit diagram for a "Watson Power-mite NF" power supply.

Mine has gone kaput for reasons that remain unclear and as I live in Cyprus it is not a case of popping down to my local electronics store to get it fixed. Well i did it. Sold out the Yaesus and have a new and shiny kenwood here. Delivered in 4 days from Denmark, would have been three but was delayed as there was a holiday here. Paid 100+ less than from the dealers here. Check the ebay shop of BM-Radio for more incredible radio offers (incredible based on local costs)
