Icom IC-2820 D-Star Not Working...

Post by 2W0PWR on Mon Mar 01, 2010 10:19 pm

Last week my GPS antenna on the IC-2820 stopped working. Hmm so I spent a day or so on the net looking for a new antenna and on Wednesday last week the DV Mode started to play up. When I transmit on DV mode the radio won't release and stays transmitting... Hmm I wonder.

I'm thinking it might be water in the GPS antenna that's caused it to mess up, I remember reading a site last year about making the GPS antennas waterproof. If Icom replace the antenna and that was the fault I'll have to think twice on using it. Maybe see if it picks up from inside the car?

Sent it to Icom on Friday so they should have it today. I'll keep u updated.

No problem Andy, I really want it in the back of the van somewhere as I have too many wires in the cab :-)...

Really starting to miss it now even though I didn't use it much. Put the handheld in the van with a mini mag but it's not the same!

Might ring them tomorrow and see if they can say anything. Think it's a common fault.
